Every Life Matters
We are committed to enhancing the lives of Roanoke's community cats through compassionate care, effective TNR efforts, and placing adoptable cats in loving homes.

TNR
TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) humanely manages community cat populations by preventing litters, improving colony health, reducing shelter overcrowding, and minimizing nuisance behaviors. It’s a compassionate, effective solution that benefits both cats and the community.

FOSTER
Fostering is the heart of our mission, giving cats a safe space to heal and grow until they find forever homes. As a foster-based rescue, we rely on compassionate individuals to save lives and create second chances for cats in need.

ADOPT
Adopting from Star City TNR and Rescue means saving a life and gaining a loving companion. Our cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and ready to join your family. Plus, your adoption supports our mission to help Roanoke’s cats and makes room to save more lives. Whether you’re looking for a playful kitten or a calm, loving adult, we’ll help you find your perfect match while making room for us to save even more lives.
What is TNR?
Trap - Neuter - Return is the only humane and permanent solution for lowering the number of stray, feral and community cats in an area.

Cats are trapped in humane traps and are then taken to a veterinary clinic where they are put under anesthesia for their spay/neuter. They also receive a rabies vaccine, an ear tipping, and pain medication is administered.

Once they have recovered from surgery, the cats are released back into their established colony area.

TNR is extremely important, as it prevents hundreds of litters! This helps lower stress on our local shelters, lowers euthanasia rates, reduces the spread of disease, and reduces stress on the individual animals as well.
